Course description

This course, English – British Literature in a Historical Context, intermediate course – focuses on British Literature from the 16th to the early 20th century: from Shakespeare, through Romanticism and the Victorian Era, to the Modernist period. In a series of lectures and seminars, you will be introduced to a wide range of literary works, framed in relation to the historical and social context out of which they emerged. In addition to honing your skills in literary analysis, the course provides opportunities to strengthen your oral as well as written proficiency through seminar discussions, written assignments, and essays. The course can be combined with English – Term Paper, Intermediate Course, 7.5 ECTS and English – American Literature, Intermediate Course, 7.5 ECTS.
