Intended learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- describe and explain central normative theories, principles and concept formations in the field of ethics,
- critically analyse and discuss different ethical views and arguments,
- independently examine problems in the field of applied ethics.
Course content
The course consists of two modules.
General and Applied Ethics, 7.5 HE credits
Module 1 provides an overview of argumentation analysis and ethical theorising with illustrations from different fields of applied ethics. The module is examined through a take-home examination.
Literature Course, 7.5 HE credits
Module 2 contains literature studies of a field of applied ethics (for example business ethics, bioethics, ethics of technology, environmental ethics). The literature study is presented in writing through writing a shorter essay.
Teaching and working methods
The teaching takes the form of lectures, compulsory seminars and group work.
Examination
The assessment of the students takes place through a take-home examination and through a shorter essay.
Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course twice are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.
Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.
The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
