Intended learning outcomes
After completion of the cource the student will be able to:
- Critically analyse their own and others’ written work
- Evaluate different publication options
- Write succinct and scholarly papers
- Use academic English in a stylish and appropriate manner.
Course content
Topics will include:
- Academic English (including tips and exercises)
- The peer-review process
- Publication ethics
- Publication options
- Constructing an effective research paper (section by section)
- Increasing productivity
Teaching and working methods
Teaching will include lectures, seminars, group work and individual tasks. Students are expected to actively participate in discussions. Homework and independent study are a necessary complement to the course.
Examination
Examination will take the form of written assignments, presentations and critical review of own and others’ work. Detailed information about the examination can be found in the course’s study guide.
