Intended learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- reson about key concepts and pros and cons of simulators as research tools
- have a broad understanding of simulators in human factors research
- formulate a problem that is suitable for simulator studies
- describe the design and implementation of a study using a simulator platform

Course content

The course includes areas and topics such as classification of different simulators, experimental design, scenario design and conduction experiments. Simulator-based edcuation/training, design and hardware-in-the-loop will be covered.

 

Teaching and working methods

The course consists of lectures, labs and seminars. The work includes preparing for seminars through reading literature and active participation in discussions. In addition, the student should conduct self-study.

 

Examination

The course is examined through compulsory participation in seminars, submission of lab reports and a written test.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course twice are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.

Three-grade scale, U, G, VG

Other information

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus. 

The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
