Apart from the general entry requirements, the specific entry requirements that apply for admission to the Bachelor's Programme in Cognitive Science must be satisfied.Intended learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- account for basic concepts in linguistics, and by means of these
- carry out an elementary linguistic analysis with specific
application on Swedish spoken and written language
- account for the language and speech of humans as a cognitive
ability and a communicative system.
Course content
Course content focuses on:
- Training on how to apply linguistic analysis, such as syntactic,
semantic and pragmatic analysis
- Review of basic linguistic concepts
- Parts of speech, phrases and clauses
- Expression and content
- Meaning and importance
- To say and to mean
- Language and communicative action
- Language and cognition
- Perspectives on language
- Language and interaction
Teaching and working methods
The teaching takes the form of lectures and analytical exercises in
group seminars. The student is expected to study independently,
individually or in groups.
Examination
The course is examined through written tests, written assignments
and oral presentations.
