Entry requirements

For admission to the course, the specific entry requirements that apply for admission to the Bachelor's Programme in Cognitive Science must be satisfied and the course Introduction to Cognitive Science (6 ECTS Credits), or Cognitiv Psychology (6 ECTS Credits), or equivaltent, must have been completed with a passing grade.

Intended learning outcomes

After completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- account for and reflect critically on central concepts, theories, models and research results in the field of cognitive neuroscience and neuropsychology
- discuss examples of central cognitive neuro-scientific and neuropsychological phenomena and explain them based on relevant theories
- apply cognitive neuro-scientific and neuropsychological theories on specific problems

Course content

Cognitive structures and processes will be studied in the course from a neuro-scientific and neuropsychological perspective. How perception, recognition, language, memory and problem-solving can be explained from a neuro-scientific and neuropsychological perspective is studied in particular.

Teaching and working methods

The teaching takes the form of lectures and seminars. The student is expected to study independently, individually or in groups.

Examination

The course is examined through a written examination. Detailed information about the examination can be found in the course’s study guide.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course twice are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
