General entry requirements apply for admission to the course, and the student should also be admitted to the Psychologist Programme and satisfy the requirements for the threshold rules, if there are any.

Intended learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- demonstrate skills in clinical supervision and consultation
- demonstrate advanced theoretical knowledge of clinical supervision and consultation in different situations
- account for, critically review and use current research in the area.

Course content

The course covers how knowledge of consultation and supervision theory, psychotherapy and supervision studies are applied and shaped, in practice, in supervision and consultation. On completion of the course, the student should have basic competence and skills as a supervisor and consultant in different activities

Particular focus is on:
- practical application of theories and models of supervision and consultation
- the supervisory relationship between supervisor and supervised with background in both theory and empirical research, and with specific attention to questions concerning the group and the organisation as supervision contexts
- the own importance of the supervisor and the consultant for the process and its outcome and the consequences of different styles of supervision and consultation for the supervised and consulted.
- knowledge about both general and specific schools of thought on clinical supervision and consultation and their consequences for the practical implementation of supervision,
- the importance of knowledge from psychotherapy and supervision studies as well as evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatment in the supervision situation.

Teaching and working methods

The course contents will be introduced via lectures, seminars, exercises and written assignments. Part of the course includes tutorial group work. In addition to this, the student should study independently, individually and/or in groups

Examination, compulsory exercises and assignments and active participation in the tutorial group work. Detailed information can be found in the study guide.

Students who have twice failed in the course or part of the course have the right to request another examiner at re-examination.

Three-grade scale, U, G, VG
