Entry requirements
Applicants must, by the closing date for application, hold a bachelor's degree/candidate exam (equivalent for example a professional degree) of at least 180 ECTS credits, including a 15 ECTS credit degree paper or equivalent. Relevant background is studies within natural science, social science, health science, humanities or engineering that relate to the environmental, social or economic aspects of sustainable development.
Applicants must, by the closing date for application, have passed at least 45 ECTS credits of the first year of the Master’s Programme in Science for Sustainable Development, including the courses ‘Critical Perspectives on Sustainable Development’, ‘Environmental and Resource Use Challenges’ and ‘Climate Science and Policy’, or similar courses.
Documented knowledge of English equivalent to "Engelska B/Engelska 6.
Intended learning outcomes
After completion of the course, the student should at an advanced level be able to
- independently prioritize, and evaluate information to perform a specific analytical assignment within Environmental Science
- systematically analyse, process and evaluate data in the analytical assignment and relate the analyse to relevant research
- communicate the process and results of the analytical assignment in writing
Course content
The course is conducted as an individual internship at an external organization within the field of Environmental Science. The student should perform a relevant analytical assignment. The students are responsible for locating the external organization where the internship will be performed. The Internship can be performed in Sweden or abroad.
Teaching and working methods
The assignment should be comprised of a number of practical exercises that require synthesizing and analytical skills e.g. data collection and evaluation. The contact person at the external organization should design the assignment (in contact/communication with the student) and support the student during the internship. The course supervisor must approve the assignment before the student commences the course. Language of Instruction: English
Examination
The course is examined through a written report, which should consists of a well-structured description of the internship, including presentation of the aims, duties and results obtained during the internship period.
Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course twice are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.
Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.
The course is carried out in such a way that both men´s and women´s experience and knowledge is made visible and developed.
