Course content

The course contains a basic study in Swedish law, contract rules (both general and special contract law), sales law, work, company types, damages, obligation law, execution (above all seizure and bankruptcy) as well as civil procedure, penal law and EU/EC law. More in-depth studies are devoted to economic family law. Also included is an introduction to law and economics.

Covered in the economic family law part are the economy-focused parts of marital law, parental rights and inheritance law, i.e. the legal rules about the economic relations of spouses, cohabitants and minors during and after different cohabitation relationships and in case of death. The current rules are also highlighted from a gender perspective.

Teaching and working methods

The teaching takes the form of lectures, seminars, moot court and practical exercises. The student should write a minor essay on a subject given by the teacher before every second seminar, and have prepared a review of a minor essay before every second seminar. The writing and preparation of the public discussion takes place with other students in small groups. At least one minor essay is written individually, however, and a minor essay is prepared for individual critical review. Participation in certain lectures, moot court and all seminars is compulsory. The student is also expected to study independently, individually or in groups.

Examination

The course examined in part through the above mentioned minor essays, seminars and moot court, and in part through written independent examination.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course twice are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
