On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- have general knowledge and understanding of judicial problems that arise in connection with international business transactions
- have general knowledge and understanding of the common market regarding free mobility for goods, services, individuals and capital, as well as the EC law competition rules
- account for the common law and civil law legal systems, respectively
- demonstrate basic skills in application of the judicial principles in international business law
- identify and solve less complicated but frequently occurring civil law and, above all, property law issues of international nature
- critically reflect on legal positions regarding application of relevant rules in the area of commercial and business law.
Course content
The course contains a study of the commercial and business law questions that arise in connection with export and import of goods and services based on international law and intergovernmental conventions with a focus on seller and buyer rights and obligations. The course also highlights different regional trade organisations' regulatory framework, above all that of the EU, and how they interact with national law. Transnational transports and insurances are also covered in the course
Teaching and working methods
The teaching takes the form of lectures, seminars and practical exercises. The students should also study independently.
Examination
The course is examined through participation in compulsory seminars, and through individual written examination. Written group assignments may occur.
