Completed courses Expression - Shape and Colour, 15 HE credits, Expression - Material and Techniques, 15 HE credits, and Interpretation and Formation - Surface and Texture, 15 HE credits, or the equivalent.

Intended learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- demonstrate skills in creative work and expressive abilities in space and volume using different techniques and materials,
- demonstrate a reflecting approach to space and volume, virtual and actual,
- deliberately interpret, aesthetically and technically, in three dimensions,
- express himself or herself in shape, colour and artistic interpretation through an experimenting working method,
- independently assess and analyse craft, handicraft and design products,
- demonstrate a scientific approach to the process and products of handicraft

Course content

The course includes creative work with practical, experimental specialisation and problem discussions of the conditions and processes of the creative process. Essential contents consist of creative experimental work with an emphasis on the different expressions that space and volume give. The student works with craft and handicraft techniques, particularly those where technology, instruments and tools contribute to creating expressions in space and volume in the materials. The student works with compositions and designs that create space and volumes. The course includes exercises and assignments that give the students opportunity to reflect on how the own knowledge can be translated into future products. A selection of the students' products is presented in exhibition form while an orientation in the different methods of interpretation and expression of the exhibition is given. The student is given the opportunity to reflect on how the own knowledge can be translated into future products. The object analysis covers the sender and receiver perspective. The course includes an individual written assignment that introduces the student to report writing.

Teaching and working methods

The working methods vary, but have in common that they are student active and to a great extent project-based in accordance with the educational platform of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, GrundGUIDE
The teaching takes the form of supervised teaching, supervision, lectures, seminars, study visits and practical work, as well as literature studies. The course work is carried out both in groups and individually, in both teacher-supervised and independent forms. The student experiments with variations of materials and technologies in different applications and is trained in explaining individual choices. Tasks are assigned during the course that are to be presented independently and in groups, orally, in writing and in exhibition form. Various information and communication technical equipment is used in the course. The course is completed with a working seminars with presentation and review of written work.

Examination

The products created and the written work are examined through presentation and publishing, as well as through defence and public discussion at a seminar. The literature seminars are compulsory and require active participation. Also included are written and oral presentations in groups, and individual practical assignments, as well as reflections on the results, both in terms of process and product.

Three-grade scale, U, G, VG
