Intended learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the students should, at an advanced level within the field of Gender Studies – Intersectionality and Change, be able to:
- independently identify, select and critically use relevant theoretical and methodological frameworks, ethical approaches and analytical strategies;
- analyze a relevant topic within the field of study using relevant theoretical and methodological frameworks and ethical considerations;
- systematically integrate critical understandings of gender and intersectionality, gender and sex, in reflections on how to counteract multiple inequalities in the society.
Course content
The course addresses:
- in-depth knowledge of theories, methodologies and ethical considerations, appropriate for analyzing intersectional gender at an advanced level;
- the relation between intersectional gender and sex, subject and embodiment in a context of societal processes of change;
- critical understandings of gender studies and intersectionality, gender and sex, and their effects for transformational work to prevent and to counteract multiple inequalities in society and to further equality and social justice.
Teaching and working methods
Lectures followed by discussions take place in the online classroom, online -workshops and/or other learning activities. In between online-seminars and online-lectures students study the course literature independently and communicate with each other online in peer learning groups, supervised by tutors. The language of instruction is English

The course is examined through active participation in onlineseminars, -workshops and/or other learning activities and through an individual essay, submitted online
