Entry requirements

Bachelor’s degree with at least 30 ECTS credits in Gender Studies or equivalent qualifications are required. 

Documented knowledge of English equivalent to Engelska B/Engelska 6.

Intended learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the students should able to

  • account for, explain and relate to genealogies of current research debates and knowledge discussed in the course, and the relationship to feminist politics, ideas  and social movements in historical and contemporary perspectives;
  • discuss, compare, and assess complex relationships between different kinds of intersectional and feminist politics and affiliations between feminist and other related social movements in historical and contemporary perspectives;
  • independently analyse such debates and affiliations from an intersectional perspective by taking into account local differences, different temporalities, and global diversity.

Course content

The course addresses:

  • genealogies of current debates and knowledge within the field of study, and their relationship to politics, ideas and social movements in a historical and contemporary perspective, taking into account both local and global perspectives;
  • relationships between different kinds of intersectional and feminist politics and affiliations between feminist and other related social movements.

Teaching and working methods

Lectures followed by discussions take place in the online classroom. Knowledge is further reinforced during online-seminars, -workshops and/or other learning activities. In between online-seminars and -lectures students study the course literature independently and communicate with each other online in peer learning groups, supervised by student tutors.  

Examination

The course is examined through active participation in online-seminars, -workshops and/or other learning activities through continuous written individual assignments, submitted online. Detailed information about the examination can be found in the study guide and the key information document.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
