Course content

Pronunciation, Oral Exercises and Aural Comprehension, 2 points
The course comprises tasks and exercises with the emphasis on being able to ask questions, and introduce maintain and finish off a conversation. The following elements are to be convered:

•The Swedish vowel and consonant system prosody
•Aural comprehension
•Oral exercises in the form of presentations
•Dialogues, discussions etc

Reading of Texts, 2 points
Intensive training of reading skills based on short texts connected with Swedish society and cultural life.

Grammar and Training in Written Swedish, 1 point
The course deals with basic grammatical comsepts and terms. Students study Swedish morphology and syntax and do short accompanying written assignments and exercises.

Teaching and working methods

Tuition comprises whole class and group teaching, pronunciation and aural comprehension training in the language laboratory as well as study visits.

The various elements of the course are integrated. Attendance is compulsory. Homework and independent study are a necessary complements to the course.

Examination

The course is examined by means of a final exam.

If the LiU coordinator for students with disabilities has granted a student the right to an adapted examination for a written examination in an examination hall, the student has the right to it. If the coordinator has instead recommended for the student an adapted examination or alternative form of examination, the examiner may grant this if the examiner assesses that it is possible, based on consideration of the course objectives.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course twice are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus. The course evaluation included in each course must therefore take up the question how well the course agrees with the syllabus.
