Entry requirements

Completed Economics, basic course, 30 ECTS credits, Economics, continuation course, 30 ECTS credits, and Economics in-depth course, 30 ECTS credits with at least 60 ECTS credits approved, or equivalent. Documented knowledge of English equivalent to Engelska B/Engelska 6.

Intended learning outcomes

After completion of the course the student should at an advanced level be able to: 
- analyse, apply, and master theories of labour economics;
- identify and explain various phenomena in the labour market;
- critically assess and develop new ideas based on empirical results, reports, and scientific papers in labour economics.

Course content

The course strengthens students understanding of traditional topics, as well as introduces modern themes in labour economics. The student should immerse in at least one contemporary topic in labour economics that the teacher and the student decide together. The connection between theoretical and empirical labour economic research will be emphasized in this course.

Teaching and working methods

The course consists of lectures, seminars and assignments. Homework and independent study are a necessary complement to the course. Language of instruction: Swedish or English.

Examination

Examination takes the form of a learning portfolio where active participation in seminars, course assignments, and written take-home examination will be included. Detailed information can be found in the study guide.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course twice are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
