Course description

Global Health is defined as education, research, and clinical activity, with view to achieve equal health for people worldwide. The main objective of the Global Health course is:

to raise awareness about the current health situation in a country.
to be able to analyse and interpret the effect of socio-economic factors on health, access to health care and subsequent health outcome.
to be able to propose feasible interventions and context specific strategies that may contribute to improved health conditions.
to understand the healthcare organization in social settings with limited resources and the associated challenges that may be faced in order to deliver equal access to health care and quality of care.

In addition, the course will also investigate healthcare challenges imposed by antimicrobial resistance, pandemics, and refugees.

The course includes webinars 2 hours per week in the evening for 8 weeks. One weekend, a boarding school in Linköping or Norrköping with seminars will be held. Within the framework of the course, voluntary study visits in Sweden and abroad may be relevant. Travel costs and accommodation are paid for by the students. Our intention is to enable some of the students to visit Eldoret in Kenya in collaboration with Moi University. However, that possibility may change depending on the security situation and teaching opportunities.
