Entry requirements

Intended learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should:
- have broadened and advanced knowledge of Swedish as a second language
- have developed an ability to reflect on research-oriented questions
- independently be able to carry out, present in writing and review a linguistic research assignment on the subject of Swedish as a second language.

Course content

The course contains in-depth studies of the Swedish language, as well as language development, culture and didactics. The student should independently be able to influence the contents and, in consultation with the course coordinator, choose the course literature in parts of the course.

The course also contains studies of research methodology in the subject. In the course, the student also carries out and, in the form of an essay, presents an independent research assignment. The essay work includes studies of literature of relevance to the essay and review of another student's essay.

Teaching and working methods

Apart from independent studies of the reading list, work with examination assignments, studies of relevant literature in preparation for the essay work and writing the essay, the course includes scheduled seminars.

Examination

The course is examined through written presentations of two larger in-depth assignments and oral presentations of three smaller assignments that are also briefly documented in written form.

The essay is examined in a seminar discussion, and by having the student review and publicly discuss another student's essay.

Applies to all courses regardless of grading scale.

  • Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

If the course has a three-graded grading scale (U - VG), following applies:
