and completed courses in textile comprising 60 HE credits, or equivalent (e g practical experience and/or other post-secondary education in textile to equivalent extent).

Intended learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should:

- be able to apply knowledge of the materials, tools and techniques of crafts with focus on pattern design, manual as well as computerised
- be able to use both manual and cad-based design methods in textile design
- be able to visualise and communicate design ideas with different techniques
- be able to apply and reflect on crafts and craft teaching from a didactic perspective with focus on pattern design

Course content

The studies contain practical, laboratory work with basic textile techniques in pattern design, manual as well as computerised and its tools. The students mainly work with pattern design exercises and personally designed patterns, which the students design both with manual tools and a cad-based pattern design program. Within the design process, the students work with different sketching techniques, 3D, body and proportions, colour, form and exhibition layout with focus on a personally presented collection. The students apply pattern modifications on already completed patterns. The students document and reflect on their own processes in a portfolio.

Teaching and working methods

Lectures, tutoring, practical work individually and in groups and seminar exercises are included in the course.

Examination

The course is examined individually through oral, visual and written presentation.

Applies to all courses regardless of grading scale.

  • Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

If the course has a three-graded grading scale (U - VG), following applies:

  • Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.

If the course is a VfU course, the following applies:

  • Examination of applied social and didactic abilities is limited to three (3) occasions.
