Course content

The course has a didactic profile with emphasis on placement. During the placement, the student should apply subject contents and working methods considered relevant for the activities. Also included are analysis, assessment and grading of student work in crafts and studies of the central and local steering documents for crafts education. Included in the course is to write, present and publicly discuss a didactic development work.

The course contains practical work in wood and metal with a specialisation in machine work and design.
Basic machine science together with relevant protection and security issues are covered in the course.

Teaching and working methods

In the course, a problem-oriented working method is utilised, and it is carried out as a distance course with three physical meetings. Between course meetings, the students carry out individual craft assignments within the subject area and subject didactics, and communicate with each another and the course director via ICT. The teaching takes the form of lectures, seminars, tuition, practical work and placement. The course work is carried out both in groups and individually, in both teacher-supervised and independent forms. During the course, oral, written and visual presentations of results of course assignments and parts are carried out, and also presentation and public discussion and examination of a written report.

The course is examined individually through demonstration of applied didactic and social teaching skills, a report with presentation and public discussion. The examination of the practical parts of the course is arranged through written, oral and visual presentation.
