Intended learning outcomes

The course gives an overview of the history and culture of Northeast Asia which is the necessary basic knowledge for a better understanding of modern Northeast Asia.

Course content

The main elements of the course concern China’s, Japan’s and Korea’s political, economic and social history up until modern times. In addition, other areas studied are the history of religion and ideas. The course also gives an introduction to the countries’ literature, art and popular-culture.
