University studies corresponding to 60 credits / one year full time studies.Intended learning outcomes
The aim with the course is that the students shall
- Explain the foundations of rhetoric
- Explain formalities for different genres of communication
- Communicate according to given conditions
- Analyse and evaluate both oral and written communication and to be an opponent
- Structure and present information
As part of this the student has to know how to
- Illustrate various aspects of linguistic theory on the student's own communication
- Argue both in oral and written form
- Carry out information both in oral and written form
- Analyse texts and presentations of other students
- Reflect over his/her own progress
Course content
Examples of subjects in the lecture series: - Rhetoric - Genres and linguistic correctness.
Written presentation: Different kinds of text (arguing texts, job applications and CVs).
Oral presentation: Various types of presentation (both prepared and unprepared).
Teaching and working methods
The course consists of a series of lectures, and two series of seminars, written and oral presentation. The course is given twice a year.
