On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- account for the concept of enterprise systems
- describe, assess and reflect on the structure and application fields of enterprise systems and the systems' mutual influence on organisation and organising
- assess challenges and possibilities in choosing, introduction and use of enterprise systems
- find and interpret academic articles with relevance to the use of enterprise systems
- orally and in writing present own analyses and constructively discuss others' analyses
Course content
The aim of the course is to, based on the perspective of the buying and using company, provide an understanding of and methods for how enterprise systems are procured, adopted and used. The student should also obtain basic knowledge of the structure of enterprise systems from a practical and theoretical perspective. The main contents of the course are:
- Using and benefiting from enterprise systems from the perspective of different functions, such as sale, marketing, production, accounting and company management
- Operational use of enterprise systems (transaction perspective)
- Directive use of enterprise systems (control perspective)
- Enterprise system project: choice and procurement, adaptation and adoption and development of its use
- Enterprise systems from a systems perspective and an organisational perspective
- The enterprise systems market - actors and business models from a Swedish and an international perspective
Teaching and working methods
The course consists of lectures, literature studies and seminars. The participants will also write reflection reports on the reading list. The students should also study independently.
Examination
The course is examined in writing through an individual test and reflection reports. Detailed information is found in course guide.
