Basic Design Methodology and User-centered Design with at least 120 HE credits approved.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to
- produce design object in a given design context using different techniques
- explain and use concepts in the area of design, such as form, function, etcetera
- manage the different stages of the design process and create relevant concepts for design objects
- describe design qualities of design objects.
Course content
The course is a design course in a studio environment and the course contents are therefore created independently by the design student in consultation with the supervisor and fellow students, based on the aims of the course. This is done in relation to the application of design methodology on a design problem within the given context, using relevant theories and tools from fields of significance to the design process, the design context and the design objects, work with evaluating design objects and their qualities, and using design perspectives.
Teaching and working methods
The learning takes place in studio form through seminars, peer-review and criticism. The student is also expected to study independently, individually or in groups.
Examination
The course is examined through continuous and final criticism of the work in the course. Some parts are compulsory with requirements of active participation. Detailed information can be found in the study guide.

Planning and implementation of a course must take its starting point in the wording of the syllabus.
