The student should have passed at least two semesters of studies at a media, design, art or stage university, or the equivalent.Intended learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to
- apply the three-dimensional designing ability
- account for design of costume in colour, shape and movement
- account for the role of music in the visual creation
- describe the interplay between music, dance, body/costume, space/scene, light and choreography.
Course content
The course is focused on three-dimensional experimental creative work for dance and where the basis is musical dramatic expressions. Studies and interpretation of different musical phenomena and concepts are the starting point for the contents of the course to develop and create wearable scenic costume prototypes. Sketching techniques, figure studies, draping exercises, as well as experiments with different materials and techniques are included in the course. Theoretical and practical exercises are integrated in choreography, music and costume.
Teaching and working methods
The teaching takes the form of lectures, workshops, literature studies and discussions. The student should keep a journal during the education.
Examination
Visual presentation in the form of a performance and a written assignment in the form of a written report with illustrative material and sketches.
