Intended learning outcomes

After the course the student can

  • Plan teaching based on science and proven experience
  • Lead simulation teaching in an appropriate way for a group of students
  • Reasoning about their own and others completed teaching
  • Discuss completed teaching in relation to scientific theories
  • Reflect upon choice of content and how the choices affect students’ learning processes.

Course content

The course focuses on the ability to lead teaching on the content of controversial issues. The ability to lead teaching is practiced with virtual simulation. The simulation provides virtual students with different abilities that the participants are trained to adapt their teaching to. Participants are given the opportunity to practice the ability to lead virtual students as well as to train the ability to observe others teaching the same students. Through planning, implementation, observation of classmates’ teaching and evaluation of simulation teaching, the participants’ ability to reflect and discuss completed teaching is trained on the basis of scientific theories.

Teaching and working methods

Lectures, seminars, simulation teaching and independant studies.

Examination

Examination of the course is by oral, written and virtual presentation.
