A master's thesis (15 ECTS) in the field or in relevant topics. Documented knowledge of English equivalent to Engelska B/Engelska 6.
Intended learning outcomes
Students must after completion of the course be able to:
- Analyze the outdoor character from a learning perspective
- Argue for the various outdoor educational learning situations can be used for teaching in different areas and themes, such as ecology and sustainable development
- Critically review and describe how an interaction between sensory experience and reflection can enrich learning.
- Discuss how different theories and/or empirical research on outdoor education related to learning and well being
Course content
Philosophical tradition, theoretical roots and empirical research in this area are areas addressed. Experiential learning and its relationship to the natural and cultural interpretation is presented and problematized in theory and practice. Man's relationship to the natural and cultural landscape, ecological connections and a sustainable development are subjects of detailed analysis. It lays special emphasis on human nature and world view, from a societal perspective. Health aspects and the human relationship to their environment, and how factors relevant to learning and health interact, are areas that are also treated.
Teaching and working methods
The course is a mixture of campus-based and distance-based. The latter means that computer access is a prerequisite for the implementation of the course. The course consists of field-based teaching, lectures and seminars. Through the course content and nature work their own experiences as a basis for reflection and analysis of outdoor identity, which means that the course forms also contributes significantly to its content.
Examination
The course is assessed by each participant writes a course report to be considered at a special seminar. Each participant will also present an original scientific work in the outdoor education. Participation in field elements are mandatory and assessed through seminars in connection with the meetings.
Applies to all courses regardless of grading scale.
- Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.
If the course has a three-graded grading scale (U - VG), following applies:
- Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
If the course is a VfU course, the following applies:
- Examination of applied social and didactic abilities is limited to three (3) occasions.
