completion of the courses Area of Emphasis Wood and Metal Craft, The Pedagogical Room of Craft (1-15 HE credits), Area of Emphasis Wood and Metal Craft, Learning Process in Craft (16-30 HE credits) and Area of Emphasis Wood and Metal Craft, Tradition and Contemporary Wood and Metal Craft (31-45hp) or equivalent.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- demonstrate the ability to organise and lead pupils' work in wood and metal craft, and reflect on and develop the personal leadership
- visualise and communicate a personal style and demonstrate the ability to analyse and assess form and material expressions
- describe and reflect on current steering documents in crafts in relation to how they are utilised in schools
- review and constructively comment on scholarly work and have developed knowledge of central theoretical perspectives on research in crafts and handicrafts
- demonstrate knowledge of analysis, assessment and grading of pupils' work in crafts connected to both product and process
- process and present a didactic problem with a scholarly method in crafts
- present and communicate the own working processes via ICT
Course content
The course has a didactic profile with emphasis on placement. During the placement, the student should apply subject contents and working methods considered relevant for the activities. Also included are analysis, assessment and grading of student work in crafts and studies of the central and local steering documents for crafts education. Included in the course is to write, present and publicly discuss a didactic development work.
The course contains practical work in wood and metal with a specialisation in machine work and design.
Basic machine science together with relevant protection and security issues are covered in the course.
Teaching and working methods
In the course, a problem-oriented working method is utilised, and it is carried out as a distance course with three physical meetings. Between course meetings, the students carry out individual craft assignments within the subject area and subject didactics, and communicate with each another and the course director via ICT. The teaching takes the form of lectures, seminars, tuition, practical work and placement. The course work is carried out both in groups and individually, in both teacher-supervised and independent forms. During the course, oral, written and visual presentations of results of course assignments and parts are carried out, and also presentation and public discussion and examination of a written report.
Examination
The course is examined individually through demonstration of applied didactic and social teaching skills, a report with presentation and public discussion. The examination of the practical parts of the course is arranged through written, oral and visual presentation.
Applies to all courses regardless of grading scale.
- Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course two times are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.
If the course has a three-graded grading scale (U - VG), following applies:
- Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
If the course is a VfU course, the following applies:
- Examination of applied social and didactic abilities is limited to three (3) occasions.
