Intended learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to

  • carry out an investigation that corresponds to the given directives/diagnostic assignment and satisfies the quality requirements that are set for an inquiry.

Course content

The student works with, in small groups, independently structuring and analysing a social problem in the form of an assigned diagnostic work, which should result in a proposal for a solution that is communicated orally and in written form. Relevant contents from the courses in economics and other courses within the programme should be applied in the work.

In addition, the students function as employers for the diagnostic work of other groups, which implies continuous follow-ups during the work and afterwards.

Teaching and working methods

The teaching takes the form of supervision of the diagnostic work and seminars. The students should also study independently.

Examination

The course is examined through the diagnostic assignment that is presented at the end of the course, and through participation in the compulsory seminars, which include oral presentation and a written assignment. Further information can be found in the study guide.

If the LiU coordinator for students with disabilities has granted a student the right to an adapted examination for a written examination in an examination hall, the student has the right to it. If the coordinator has instead recommended for the student an adapted examination or alternative form of examination, the examiner may grant this if the examiner assesses that it is possible, based on consideration of the course objectives.

Students failing an exam covering either the entire course or part of the course twice are entitled to have a new examiner appointed for the reexamination.

Students who have passed an examination may not retake it in order to improve their grades.
